Childhood obesity is a major public health problem for the state of Arkansas. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), children with obesity are at a higher risk of having other chronic health conditions and diseases, such as asthma, sleep apnea, bone, and joint problems, and type 2 diabetes. COVID-19 has caused several parents to choose homeschooling or virtual learning for their student(s). The Arkansas Minority Health Commission’s Camp iCAN Recess can assist parents and home-school teachers with tools and resources to help promote physical activity and nutrition education in their alternate learning environments.

If you are interested in receiving tools and resources to help your student’s health stay on track, please complete the form below, and our health program specialist will be in contact.
